Madison's birth story actually begins on the evening of April 8th at 8:30 pm. The original plan was to arrive at the hospital, begin the induction process at 9:00 pm. After arriving at the hospital, I began having contractions on my own, without induction. My nurse tried as best she could to sooth the pain and help me sleep, but as the night wore on, my contractions got stronger and stronger. At 6:00 am, I could no longer handle the pain, and was given a much needed epidural! I was able to then sleep for about an hour before Dr. Pohl arrived at the hospital. After doing an examination, he announced that I was 9 cm dilated! I immediately called my mom and sister, who flew to the hospital to make it in time. As it turns out, they had plenty of time to spare, as Madison was finally born at 12:02 pm.
